Waiting for a bus can take hours and then - three come along at once. That seems to have happened with our stereoview finds. Here is another time capsule collection - with no connection to the other two we have recently discovered. Many of these were wrapped in Victorian tissue paper with titles handwritten. There is the odd newspaper cutting and one program for Mr W.S. Woodin performing at Worcester in 1867. Mr Woodin, you may remember, was the subject of Paula Fleming's article An Olio of Oddities in Stereo World, volume 38 #1. Nice to find an original program for one of his performances. For those who are interested, stalls were 3s (18 cents), unreserved seats were 2s (12 cents) and back seats were 1s (6 cents). Oh, and carriages were to be ordered for 10 p.m. Anyway, enough of my rambling. The views are obviously in excellent condition and, when you get to see views that are largely as they would have been produced in the 1860s, and kept out of the light, you begin to realise that most of what you get to see these days is pretty rubbishy and nowhere near the richness and beauty of how they were some 160 years ago. So, please enjoy and, maybe consider upgrading some of your collection. There can't be many more finds like this out there.

Firstly, a particularly good group of views by Francis Bedford. Many with Catherall & Pritchard lists on the back and some with Wm Pritchard, Stationer, High Street, Carnarvon, labels. They should be in numerical order. I have only included titles where they are not visible. Any problems with condition I will mention, otherwise as clean as I have ever seen views.

'St Saviour's Church, Jersey. Harriet Sofia Hadow died Sept. 6th 1861 & is buried in a new part of the churchyard'. She may be, but was sadly forgotten. until I resurrected her One resident of this churchyard who isn't forgotten is Lily Langtree (Jersey Lily)! However, in the interests of research, I did the work to find Harriet. She was born on 7 October 1827 and died on 5 September 1861 (aged 33). Several of these views are of Warwickshire and she was the eldest daughter of (presumably a rector) from that county. Click  HERE for an image of Harriet's grave. If I got paid by the hour, I'm getting about 3 cents.
